Tragic Shooting: Indian Engineer Killed by Soldier in Uganda | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: A 41-year-old engineer from Jangaon in Telangana was shot dead at his workplace in Uganda on Friday by a soldier on security duty, who later ended his life too.
Tirumalesh Etikala was a site civil engineer for a company building a water pipe system in Namasale town for the Ugandan govt. He had been working for the company in Uganda since 2019.
According to reports, Tirumalesh was at his office and was speaking on the phone when the soldier shot him in the chest around 9.30 am (local time).
The suspect, James Tolit Opio, then went out of the main gate of the factory and shot himself in the neck. He died on the spot. Tirumalesh, who was rushed to the hospital, was declared brought dead.
Local police said that Opio, who was working for the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, had complained to his colleagues that he was unhappy with his pay and allowances. tnn
