Tia Mowry admits her twin sister Tamera is ‘not as accessible’ as she used to be

Tia Mowry admitted that her twin sister, Tamera Mowry, is ‘not as accessible’ as she used to be —  but she clarified that ‘all is well’ between the two.

The 46-year-old Sister, Sister actress — who recently denied that there is a rift between the siblings — opened up to Entertainment Tonight on Friday about their relationship.

It comes shortly after her remarks on the new reality series, Tia Mowry: My Next Act, where she said both she and Tamera were not ‘close.’ However, she later clarified that she simply meant physical distance between them.

‘She is a mother. Her children need her. She is also a wife. Her husband needs her,’ the star said of Tamera.

‘So she’s just not as accessible as the way it used to be. So I’m comparing it to what it used to be. But I literally just talked to her yesterday.’

Tia Mowry, 46, admitted that her twin sister, Tamera Mowry, is ‘not as accessible’ as she used to be — but she clarified that ‘all is well’ between the pair; seen on Friday in Burbank

Tia continued, ‘Everything is good. I’m gonna say what my cousin says, all is well. Period,’ and added that her sibling is simply ‘in a different place’ in her life.

‘She’s doing her thing and I’m doing my thing. It’s the same thing with my brother. We were doing movies together, Seventeen Again,’ the actress explained, referencing to the 2000 film.

‘I think the reason people tend to go there is because our careers started together,’ Mowry said.

‘But just like any sibling, everybody goes off to do their own thing, and you want them to. You want them to be individuals and to fly solo. So there’s nothing harmful in any of that.’

Tia and Tamera are known for starring in the sitcom series Sister, Sister which aired from 1994 through 1999.

The pair worked together on other projects, such as the movie Twitches (2005), as well as its sequel two years later.

In 2011, the twin sisters starred in their own reality show called Tia and Tamera – which aired for a total of three seasons.

In Tia’s own reality series which began airing earlier this month on October – she commented on her relationship with Tamera.

'So she's just not as accessible as the way it used to be. So I'm comparing it to what it used to be. But I literally just talked to her yesterday,' the actress said; seen in L.A. in 2023

Tia is mother to Cree, 13, and Cairo, six – whom she shares with ex-husband Cory Hardrict.

A snippet from an episode showed the star having an emotional moment after she dropped off her youngest child with Hardrict.

During a confessional, the actress expressed, ‘Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce.’

‘It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.’

However, late last month in September, Tia clarified to Us Weekly that she was talking about the physical distance between her and Tamera.

‘You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them.’

Mowry continued, ‘We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives. That is what that was all about.’

‘In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case. It’s called life.’

‘I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a closeness and a beautiful connection,’ Tia added.

‘But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.’

In regards to the reaction to her comments, Tia simply explained that it was ‘taken out of context’ and also ‘not surprising.’

‘When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is.’

‘The only thing that I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person that I could possibly be, and that’s what both of us are. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been that all our lives. So, why change that now?’

And earlier this month, Tia further denied that there is a rift between the siblings during an interview on Today with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Hager while promoting her new We TV reality series.

‘I’ve been in this industry for such a long time and I know that some things can be taken out of context, so it is what it is.’

‘As siblings, it is very normal that as we get older, we take on different roles and responsibilities,’ Mowry added.

'There's this bond that will always be, and there's so much love for one another and each other so, sorry y'all,' Tia added; seen in 2012 in L.A.

‘Some of those roles are being married and being a mother. Her children, they lean on her. My children lean on me and that’s what I meant by that. That we’re just not as close in proximity.’

Tamera is also mother of two children: Aden, 11, and Ariah, nine, whom she shares with husband Adam Housley.

Tia explained, ‘We don’t live in the same town, and it’s the same thing with my brother. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee.’
