WARREN, Mich. – The Warren Police Department is searching for the suspects and the victims involved in the parking lot shooting at a McDonald’s.

The incident occurred on Friday (Oct. 4) at 5 p.m. in the 23000 block of Van Dyke Avenue at 9 Mile Road.

There are no known victims at this time, with all persons involved having fled the scene before officials arrived.

Officials said they received several calls about multiple shots being fired in the parking lot. Police said they found numerous shell casings consistent with a shooting.

From what investigators have gathered so far, it appears that occupants of a white Crysler 300 and a silver/gray sedan fired several shots at each other in the parking lot of the McDonald’s.

After exchanging gunfire, both vehicles fled the scene in separate directions.

As of now, investigators have no reported victims or known suspects. There were no innocent bystanders injured.

Evidence Technicians arrived to process the scene, including collecting more than 10 shell casings.

Investigators do not believe there is an active threat to the public now.

Investigators will review CCTV video footage and speak with witnesses to gather more information about this incident.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Warren Police Department at 586-574-4877 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.

WARREN, Mich. – A 29-year-old Canadian man was charged with starting a fire at his girlfriend’s house in Warren.

Allegedly, Jesse Dennis Hayden Humphrey, 29, set his girlfriend’s home on fire after an argument on Sunday, Sept. 22.

Officials say the fire completely destroyed the home, killing the two cats inside.

The girlfriend was not home at the time of the fire, and officials say Humphrey fled the scene of the fire but was later arrested in Warren.

Humphrey was charged with two counts of second-degree arson, a 20-year felony, and killing animals in the third-degree, a four-year felony.

Under Michigan law, intentionally killing animals is a four-year felony, and that is the highest possible charge for animal deaths.

The 29-year-old man was charged in 37th Warren District Court, where bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety only.

If released, Humphrey is to wear a GPS tether, not leave the state of Michigan, and have no contact with the victim.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., and a preliminary exam is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at 8:45 a.m.
