The MBTA recently announced upcoming service changes on the Orange, Red, Green, Franklin, Fitchburg, and Lowell lines.

“The MBTA understands how these service changes affect riders’ daily travels during this period, but we are committed to improving your travels long term with more reliable, timely, and safe service,” the MBTA said in a statement.

The disruptions are in place as part of the Track Improvement Program to replace tracks, remove speed restrictions, and make station amenity upgrades, the statement said.

Orange Line

The Orange Line will suspend service between Oak Grove and North Station Oct. 26-Nov. 1, and free shuttle service will be available between the stops. 

From Oct. 26-27, the line will be down between Oak Grove and Ruggles, but free shuttles will run from Copley to Ruggles.

Red Line

The Red Line will not operate between Broadway and North Quincy Nov. 5-10, between Broadway and Ashmont Nov. 9-10, and between Harvard and Broadway No. 18-24. 

There will be shuttle buses between the affected stops.

Green Line

Green Line service will not be available between Riverside and Kenmore Nov. 9-10, and shuttle buses will replace trains between the stops.

Service will also be disrupted between Union Square and Lechmere Nov. 11-17, but there will be no shuttle service to Union Square.

Green Line service will be suspended between Park Street and Union Square as well as  East Somerville beginning at approximately 8:45 p.m. through the end of service Nov. 15 and continuing all day through the weekend of Nov. 16–17. 

Bus service will replace trains between North Station and East Somerville, but there will be no shuttle bus service between North Station and Park Street and to Union Square. 

During the disruption, trains between Medford/Tufts and East Somerville will be fare-free.

Franklin Commuter Rail Line

Commuter rail service will be suspended between Forge Park/495 and Readville from Nov. 2-3. Shuttle buses will replace train service.

Fitchburg Commuter Rail Line

Service will be suspended on the line between Littleton/Route 495 and Wachusett on Nov. 2-3, Nov. 9-10, and Nov. 14-17. Service will also be suspensed between North Leominster and Wachusett Nov. 23-24.

Shuttle buses will replace train service between the affected stops.

Lowell Commuter Rail Line

The line will not operate between North Station and Lowell from Nov. 23-24. Shuttle buses will replace train service along the entire line.
