HOUSTON – It’s been described as the perfect place for killing someone and getting away with it.

Over the last four decades, a marshy stretch off I-45 between Harris and Galveston counties became known as the ‘Texas Killing Fields.’ At least 30 bodies have been found there, but four stand out from the rest – Heide Villareal Fye, Audrey Cook, Donna Prudhomme, and Laura Miller.

None of their murders has ever been solved.

“When Laura’s body was found, I was so pissed off that I did everything I knew how to do to keep this little girl alive – and somebody else was determined to take her life,” said Laura’s father, Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch.

Now, season 6 of the KPRC 2 Investigates true crime docuseries ‘The Evidence Room’ premieres with an in-depth, four-part look at the victims, their lives – and the stumbling blocks that have kept their families from getting closure.

And, for the first time, you’ll hear from a man who remains a prime suspect in the killings in exclusive on-camera interview.

From family members, to investigators, to the first police officer there when Laura and Audrey were found – we’re taking you inside the cases that have haunted our collective memory for 40 years.

‘The Texas Killing Fields’ premieres Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. exclusively on the KPRC 2+ livestream.

‘The Evidence Room’ is now in its sixth season.

The original true crime docuseries produced by KPRC 2 Investigates received national honors from the 44th Annual Telly Awards in 2023. The Telly Awards honors “innovative, inclusive, and disruptive work that breaks through the static.”
