HOUSTON – Authorities are looking for a driver who hit a man with their car overnight Thursday and kept on driving in northwest Houston, leaving him for dead.

It happened a little after 2 a.m. on the Northwest Fwy feeder under 290 near W 34th Street. That’s where witnesses told police they saw an unidentified man on the ground, but it’s unclear what caused him to fall initially.

At some point, however, while the witnesses were calling for help, they saw a driver in a white Chevy Malibu hit the pedestrian and continue driving. The man died as a result.

The roads were closed for several hours while forensic examiners arrived to help investigate.

Police say there should be surveillance videos in the area and are combing the area to find any information to find the driver but are asking anyone who might know something to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477)
