One of the biggest TV shows of 2024 has been renewed by Netflix for a second season, just weeks after it first premiered.

Nobody Wants This first debuted on the streaming platform last month and instantly shot to the top of the most-watched charts.

Adam Brody and Kristen Bell led the cast as rabbi Noah and podcast host Joanna respectively, with the episodes focusing on their budding romance and the obstacles they both face to keep their connection.

After the program blessed us with the ‘best kiss ever’, which left many viewers reeling, it has now been confirmed that we will be getting another season – amid a string of projects being axed.

According to multiple US outlets, Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria made the announcement at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in LA.

Erin Foster, who created the series, will be remaining as an executive producer while Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan – who both worked on Girls – will be serving as showrunners and executive producers.

‘Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me,’ Erin declared, via Variety.

‘The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed.

‘I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!’

Fans also went wild for the news, beginning for the new episodes to land on the platform immediately.

Underneath a Netflix post confirming the second season, Gladyscuevass wrote: ‘Give us seasons like Friends, 22 episodes and they last about 28-30 min, that would be great, thanks.’

‘YESSSSSSSSSSSS I need this in my life. The chemistry and love in this show is what I daydream about,’ Phyllicia.Victoria agreed.

Eloquenceoffelicities said: ‘Everybody Wants This! Our perfect romcom couple is back!’

Itstheavarose penned: ‘Make szn 2 with 20 episodes please!!!! [sic].’

As Susannasalk added: ‘Fastest reup for Season 2 I’ve ever seen! And for once it makes sense! Thank you for finally making a charming, witty and smart rom com. It’s been waaay too long [sic].’

Nobody Wants This premiered on Netflix on September 26 and became an instant hit, boasting a Rotten Tomatoes score of 96%.

Not only did it return the OC’s Adam to his rightful place as the Internet’s husband, but it also sent us all into meltdown over the most perfect kiss between Noah and Joanne.

Unpacking that scene in a chat with Harper’s Bazaar, she shared that they were both ‘so nervous’ about doing it justice.

The Good Place icon said: ‘I think when Adam and I read the screen direction for “the best kiss either of them has ever experienced on earth,” we were like, “Okay, do we talk about this? Do we just go in for it? Do we just try something? I don’t know. Do we wing it?”

‘I think what’s clear to both of us is that the butterflies and the heart palpitations live in the anticipation; the lead-up is so much more romantic than the actual kiss.

‘Adam, didn’t we do a couple of takes where one of us was like, “Let’s just make it doubly as long — not the actual kiss, but the lead-up”? Like, “Let’s just stretch out staring at each other for as long as we possibly can before we feel like we really should have wrapped already.”’

If anyone needs us, we’ll be on yet another rewatch…

Nobody Wants This is available to stream on Netflix now.
