Don’t be fooled by die-hard Storm fan Jera Duffy who’s decked out in purple from head to toe. He’s actually a Manly local.
“Why not? Don’t know, I don’t really have a reason, I just like the Storm. I’ve followed them for twenty years now,” Duffy said.
We also asked his thoughts on Melbourne’s line-up tonight and how the team stacks up against previous years.
“They’re definitely punching above their weight, the Storm of up to 2019 before Cameron Smith left were definitely the best team, but I think this Storm team now is definitely going to become even greater.”
Similarly, Scott and Isaac Conza have been Newcastle locals for the past twenty years, but Scott was born in Melbourne, and continues to be a passionate Storm supporter at heart.
In true Melburnian fashion, they bring with them a little taste of Victoria’s biting cold – the father-and-son duo are the only fans I can spot for miles wearing thick beanies in this sweltering Sydney weather.
“We thought we’d go do something different with the hats, we’re trying a new style too.”
“I think they’ve [Storm] got what it takes, I think they’ve got the team, I think they’ve got the coach, I think it’s their day today. Penrith have had three in a row, so I think it’s time for Storm to make a big difference today.”
