Sunrise host Natalie Barr had an embarrassing moment with Joe Biden on the eve of the US election.

Barr, who is in Washington to cover the historic event, was at the White House on Tuesday when Marine One – the helicopter carrying the President – landed on the South Lawn.

As Biden exited Marine One and walked to the Oval Office, Barr tried to ask the President if he was sorry for calling Trump supporters ‘garbage’.

President Biden ignored the question, which Barr claimed he would have heard because she was ‘pretty loud’.

‘He (President Biden) sort of put his head down, looking away from us,’ Barr said.

‘Other reporters were calling out questions too, but mine was pretty loud. He just put his head down and headed for the Oval. Ignored me,’ Barr said. 

Cohost Monique Wright, along with Matt Shirvington reporting from the Australian studio, mocked Barr’s hair going wild as the President’s chopper landed. 

‘Okay, it’s really windy. We’re really so close, the President is somewhere that way,’ Barr laughed.

President Biden did not appear to  be impressed with Nat Barr’s question 

Barr did not shy away from her brutal style of questioning, which she often applies to Australian politicians, when she finally came face to face with Biden 

‘This is about as close as you get to the President of the United States. Joe Biden. Right there.’

Wright and Shirvington joked that President Biden ignored Barr because he watched her as she was almost blown away from the helicopter. 

Despite the wind, the Sunrise host labelled the experience ‘one of the most exciting moments’ of her life. 

‘Cam, the cameraman, and I were out there, and I couldn’t believe I was there,’ Barr said.

‘They let you in, all the hard-pass journos who are here all the time. It’s just like another day at the office for them. I was shaking with excitement.

‘You’ve seen this in movies, on the news, in reports worldwide, and I thought, ‘Wow, I’m here!’ My hairpiece nearly fell out. It was a bit of a disaster, but I was there.’

Biden created an uproar earlier this week with his remarks to Latino activists responding to racist comments at a Trump rally made by the comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who referred to the U.S. island territory of Puerto Rico as a ‘floating island of garbage.’ 

Biden, according to a transcript prepared by the official White House stenographers, told the Latino group on a Tuesday evening video call, ‘The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.’ 

The transcript released by the White House press office, however, rendered the quote with an apostrophe, reading ‘supporter’s’ rather than ‘supporters,’ which aides said pointed to Biden criticizing Hinchcliffe, not the millions of Americans who are supporting Trump for president.

The Trump campaign wasted no time in taking advantage of the gaffe, with the former president riding a MAGA garbage truck in an appearance in Wisconsin the following day.

‘How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden,’ he told the waiting media while wearing an orange workman’s vest.
