Bristol-based trio Jabu have shared their third studio album, ‘A Soft and Gatherable Star’.
Released via their own label Do You Have Peace?, ‘A Soft and Gatherable Star‘ offers a deeply personal exploration of history, influence and classic songwriting. Comprised of vocalist and guitarist Jasmine Butt, bass player Amos Childs and Alex Rendall behind the keys, Jabu construct a textured, luminous atmosphere through a fusion of elements of dub, ambient and folk music.
Speaking on their creation process, Jasmine shares: “We came to this album in a bit of a different way than the previous ones, I had started playing guitar as a way of getting back into singing and was coming up with some riffs and chord ideas. It naturally came to a place where we were all jamming together on instruments, none of us are really proficient musicians or anything but we enjoyed working like that, bouncing off each other in a more immediate way.”
Inspired by a poem by Amos’ late father, ‘A Soft and Gatherable Star’ marks Jabu’s third full-length body. As founding members of DIY collective Young Echo, Jabu continue to amplify their collaborative spirit, gravitating towards genuine song craft whilst discovering alternative methods of creation.
The trio will perform a string of live shows across Bristol, London and Warsaw in the coming months, bringing their moody introspection to the stage.
Tune in now.
