Helicopter reportedly crashes in Houston’s Second Ward after hitting radio tower

HOUSTON – A helicopter has reportedly crashed in Houston’s Second Ward in the East End after hitting a radio tower.

The Houston Fire Department said the crash happened at about 7:54 p.m. at Engelke Street and Ennis Street.

The Department confirmed a helicopter is down in the area and there is a fire. They did not know if anyone was hurt or killed at this time.

KPRC 2 Reporter Corley Peel is at the scene and says there is a large amount of emergency personnel responding to the scene.

Manuel Arciniega was in the area when the crash happened.

“My buddy behind me told me to look up in the sky and I just saw the cell tower crumbling down, they said a helicopter hit it,” he said.
