Officers say that they believe that the events will take place somewhere within the Greater Manchester force area over Saturday or Sunday.

They have warned that events like this can be dangerous and that they will deal with drivers either at the scene of “cruises” themselves or retrospectively after carrying out investigations.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of potential car cruise events across the force area this weekend

“Dangerous and anti-social driving will not be tolerated within Greater Manchester and motorists who wish to behave in such a fashion will be dealt with either at scene or retrospectively prosecuted by the Operation Marshall team who will be on duty over the weekend gathering evidence.”

Previous car cruise events have been dealt with by police dispersal orders, which give officers extra powers to order people to leave particular areas.

Anyone with any further information or concerns can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
