Liam Payne drugs update given as tests ‘reveal what was in star’s body’

Liam Payne had cocaine in his system when he fell from his balcony in Buenois Aires and tragically died, a toxicology report found.

Pink cocaine with traces of methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA, along with crack cocaine and benzodiazepine, were found in the One Direction Star’s hotel room.

The full results of the toxicology test have yet to be released.

Fernando Cardini, a forensic toxicologist, said in an interview with Está Pasando that Liam had “a cocktail of chemical substances that is very complicated for any living organism.”

He added: “He took drugs, but being in a different country, perhaps the drug he bought did not have the same concentration he expected. Maybe the dose was too much for him.

“What the forensic doctors said is that he showed no signs of defending himself before the fall. [A person] before falling, has the instinct to put his hands out to protect himself. When you are intoxicated, you reach a degree of unconsciousness. He died from the fall, but the combination – of drugs – was very relevant.”

Argentina’s public prosecution is investigating the circumstances of Liam’s death.

An autopsy found that Liam died as a result of the severe injuries he suffered after falling three stories.

Prosecutors have ruled out the possibility of anyone else being involved in his death.

Investigators found drugs and alcohol in Liam’s room, along with broken objects and furniture.

The public prosecution said Liam might have fallen from the balcony in a state of “semi or total unconsciousness.”

They also said Liam had suffered a substance abuse-induced breakdown before his fall. Investigators are also trying to work out who sold Liam the drugs he used prior to his death.

Police have taken statements from at least three staff members at the CasaSur hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood, where Liam was staying.

After his death, tributes for Liam poured in from a number of stars.

His sister, Nicola, Liam was as an “angel” who “lived for making people smile.”

She wrote on Instagram: wrote on Instagram: “When I saw the news pop up on my phone that you had left us I went cold, I wanted so much for this to be untrue. I have spent days hoping that it was a mistake and somebody has got it wrong.

“You were truly too good for this earth, you are an angel who just lived for making people smile and happy. You have always shown kindness to everyone you met and it shows with just how many people have confirmed what we always knew.”

Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has said she is “at a loss” without her “angel.”
