On today’s episode, we hear from several V Teamers who are supporting our Hurricane Milton recovery.

Restoring connections in Florida is a team effort and all hands are on deck at our Emergency Operations Center in Plant City, where teams are working to deploy network assets to priority locations.

Our Network Assurance teams are also working hard to make sites operational and provide critical connectivity with assets like Big Red to support our first responders in their search-and-rescue operations by providing satellite solutions, wifi and charging stations.

The team also set up sleeping accommodations in Temple Terrace, Florida, so they can deploy network assets as needed. As network engineer Ernie Berthold tells it, “we’re one big Verizon family and we all have one goal: To keep our customers connected.”

The Verizon Foundation donates $2 million for recovery efforts

The Verizon Foundation is supporting communities devastated by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton with a total of $2 million in donations to aid relief and recovery efforts.

The donations include $1 million to the American Red Cross to assist with emergency relief and recovery efforts for both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.

The remaining $1 million is directed to various regional organizations providing crucial services on the ground in the hardest-hit areas, including $400,000 allocated to organizations in Florida for Hurricane Milton relief and $600,000 to support communities in Georgia and North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene.

We’re offering relief to help affected customers.

From October 9 to October 23, Verizon will waive domestic call, text and data usage for postpaid consumer and Verizon Small Business customers. The offer is automatic and customers do not have to take action to benefit.  Check out our press release for full details on the waiver, including a full listing of counties impacted.

You can help Verizon employees who are most affected by this disaster by donating to The VtoV Employee Relief Fund. The fund directly helps V Teamers who are displaced by natural disasters, fires and domestic violence with funds to help with shelter and life’s necessities.

You can donate in any number of ways, but one that’s convenient and impactful is making a payroll deduction.
