5-year-old child with autism found dead in retention pond after being reported missing in Cypress area

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A five-year-old child was found dead in a retention pond after being reported missing Sunday in the Cypress area.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the child, who reportedly has autism, was reported missing from the 20500 block of Keegans Ledge Lane.

Deputies with the Harris County Pct. 5 Constable’s Office responded to the scene and began searching for the child.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the child was discovered shortly afterwards inside a nearby retention pond.

Gonzalez said the child was confirmed dead at the scene.
